"Description": "KNX is a worldwide name in Europe and the US yet we are just getting to know the new automation software locally. It’s a revolution in automation software and a real game changer. Before KNX the options for software in office automation were predominately Clipsal C-Bus, and Dynalite.\n\nDepending on which of these systems you chose, you were limited to buying products in their range. Clipsal and Dynalite make the products that work with their system. With KNX it’s a whole new world of choice.\n\nThe Key Benefit of KNX:\n\nOpen source architecture – meaning that you can use a range of different products that are ‘KNX approved’ so that they are guaranteed to work with KNX. Over 170 manufacturers make products that work with the KNX system. For example, you can select your light switches from one manufacturer and your touch screen devices from another. KNX makes it simple.\n\nKNX helps you to keep your options open when it comes to which products you’d like to use in your office. With so many manufacturers competing for your business you are the real winner. With competition comes innovation in design and functionality. Over 10 million products that work with KNX have been sold worldwide since the system launched in 1992. It’s taken a long time for it to land in Australia but the wait is certainly worth it.\n\nAt Corporate Intelligence, we know that reliability and functionality is the key to any automation system. We use and recommend KNX – the one software package with a massive range of product options for your lighting control, heating/cooling, security and audio visual requirements.\n\nAs always energy efficiency is a huge benefit of integrating your office with an automated system. It’s the line that we hear from the police, ambulance and fire department constantly. But if you can’t see it, how can you do anything? The answer is cloud-based surveillance. In the case of a real emergency, response times of the police and other authorities can be reduced significantly using this technology. For example, if an alarm is triggered; the camera stream can be recorded instantly and if a threat exists the police can be alerted immediately. It’s the answer to keeping your business safe and sound.\n\nWork on your business and not constantly in your business. By being able to monitor the opening or closing procedures in your company you can ensure that your staff are keeping your company and property secure. Protect your business from unauthorised intruders. Using motion analytics built in the digital smart camera, it can identify if an unauthorised person is entering your premises. In real-time the camera will send you an email and a photo of the unauthorised, so that you can act quickly and prevent any threats to your business.\n\nBesides security, cloud-based surveillance can be also used for monitoring the workplace and staff in real-time to observe customer interaction, shopping habits or employee productivity. The data will prove to be invaluable for learning about your business and training employees. Corporate Intelligence can provide the right cameras and advice on the best cost-effective software package that you should use. With high resolution cameras, amazing frame-rate and crystal clear audio – you will instantly see the benefits. Cloud-based surveillance is the best way to truly protect your company and property. \n\t
  • Is the resolution of the PC set correctly?
  • \n\t

\nIt’s an unpredictable situation and an unnecessary stress. Let your hard work show with seamless integration between your iDevice and the screen with Apple TV. If you have an Android device or windows tablet there are similar solutions available.\n\nOnce considered only a consumer product, found in the TV room; Apple TV makes an appearance in the boardroom and it’s making life really easy.\n\nHow it works: Using Airplay (also known as ‘Mirroring’) on your iPhone, iPad or Apple laptop you can project any information with one click straight onto the television, wirelessly. You can navigate from your device giving you the power and confidence to control your presentation.\n\nMirroring also allows you to stream your conferences through FaceTime or Skype, as well as videos or pictures. You can turn your television into an interactive whiteboard with an app like Penultimate, where remote participants can view your writing or drawing from the iPad.\n\nThe Apple TV has two different modes you can use with your iDevice:\n
    \n\t
  • Mirror the content that you see on the device onto the screen or;
  • \n\t
  • Use dual screen to turn your iDevice into a controller and navigate the content on the big screen.
  • \n
\nCheck out Microstrategy for great business apps to help you to present company data, like business intelligence or presentations innovatively using Apple TV.\n\nWorry-free presentations: No more stress about your presentation’s format, file type or compatibility. Apple TV will just work for you and allow you to get on with your presentation.\n\nThe OH&S team is also going to like the fact that there are no messy cables lying around. Let people fall for your presentation and not over the cables.\n\nAs always, Corporate Intelligence is here to help with automating all aspects of your office to make everything seamlessly integrated. Here are our tips to get Apple TV working for you:\n
    \n\t
  • Have the Apple TV connected to your screen
  • \n\t
  • Start the Airplay compatible app on your iDevice (it is identified easily by the airplay icon on the screen)
  • \n\t
  • Tap the Airplay icon and select Apple TV and you are ready to go.

Upgrading your iPhone? Don't forget this.

The iPhone 5 is here and many of us are planning to replace our 4S, 4 or 3GS with this superphone. However most people don’t pay too much attention to what is going to happen with the old one. Will you sell it? Give it to your daughter, or maybe return it to your mobile operator or company?

"Description": "The iPhone 5 is here and many of us are planning to replace our 4S, 4 or 3GS with this superphone. However most people don’t pay too much attention to what is going to happen with the old one. Will you sell it? Give it to your daughter, or maybe return it to your mobile operator or company?\n\nAll of your private and possibly your company’s data are stored on the phone.  Therefore it’s a good idea to make sure everything is wiped out clean before you let it go. This also applies to a phone that needs to be serviced, which is my case right now.\n\nApple has done a great job at securing the devices and if you follow the right steps (as shown in our previous post) you don’t have to worry about your data. Fortunately with erasing your iPhone or iPad it is almost the same. Follow a few short steps and you can rest assured that no one will peak into your data.\n\nIf you have a 3GS or higher it comes with the AES-256 bit encryption - the accepted industry standard in terms of data security. What it basically means is that your data is strongly protected and only by using the right encryption keys you can access it. Wipe these keys out and the data will be rendered unusable, or in layman terms reduce it to gibberish. So the question is, how to do it?\n\nApple has build in a function called Erase your Personal Data from the iPhone. Follow these five steps and you’ll be all right:\n
    \n\t
  1. First back your iPhone up in iTunes in case you want to restore it to the new phone or ever need data from the old one
  2. \n\t
  3. As this process can take a couple of hours make sure it has enough battery or plug it into a power source.
  4. \n\t
  5. Go to Settings à General à Reset (at the bottom)
  6. \n\t
  7. Hit Erase All Content and Settings and confirm
  8. \n
\nAfter a few hours you are done and can give the phone away. Next time you need to service your iDevice, give it away or change it for a new one you know what to do to make sure you’re protected.\n\nDid you know about this feature, have you ever used it before?", "DisableForSiteSearch": false, "EnableAMP": false, "Enabled": true, "ExpiryDate": "2099-12-11T11:00:00", "ExternalId": 1528, "Image": "/images/New-iPhone.jpg", "ItemCategories": null, "ItemTags": [ "Consumer Technology" ], "MetaDescription": "", "Name": "Upgrading your iPhone? "Description": "Nowadays most of us spend a considerable chunk of our time at „work“ behind a desk solving our daily tasks via this wonderful invention called a pc. Unfortunately besides the effectiveness that it brings, this type of work often yields severe long-term effects on our body and health.\n\n It has been written about a million times and still most of us fight with back pain and eye strain. So what can we do to prevent this?\n\nThe sciences of Eye-gonomics and ergonomics help to deal with these issues. First lets look at our sight and how we can help it:\n
    \n
      \n\t
    1. Follow the 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes look at an object around 20 feets for at least 20.
    2. \n\t
    3. Do the “High five“ test. Try to give your screen a high five. The optimum is an arms distance.
    4. \n\t
    5. Check the height of your screen – its top should be at your eye level.
    6. \n\t
    7. If you work on a notebook, get an external display or a stand to raise it up to your eye level.
    8. \n\t
    9. Make sure that your viewing angle is no more than 35 degrees.
    10. \n\t
    11. monitor must be front of face, not turned to the side or leaning.
    12. \n\t
    13. The light from display must be the brightest light in the room (raise/lower others as needed).
    14. \n
    \n
\nWhen we talking about ergonomics and protecting your back, there are three main points:\n
    \n\t
  1. Your forearms must be leveled with the keyboard, i.e. should lay horizontally on the table and hang vertically by your chest.
  2. \n\t
  3. Your chair should keep your body upright (slightly leaning backwards), if you feel that your posture isn’t ideal get different one.
  4. \n\t

Viruses and malware are only a minor concern.  (Please note - jailbroken devices are much more prone to these threats, so beware!) When talking about security on iDevices everyone instantly thinks about theft or loss and with that possibly the compromise of sensitive data - such as account numbers, passwords,  emails, pics, vids, browser history, places you visited and much more!So what to do to secure data on your iPhone or iPad?

\n\n
    \n\t
  1. First of all enable a passcode. Setting=> Passcode => Enable. A simple one is better than none, but for strong protection a full text password is advisable. Enabling a passcode automatically encrypts all the data on the phone, which makes it unusable without the encryption strings. It is also mandatory if you want to use the Find my iPhone function in the event of loss or theft. (more about this feature below)
  2. \n\t
  3. Also disable Voice Control, which is controlled via the Home Button without having to enter the passcode. This of course can be misused in the wrong hands.
  4. \n\t
  5. With Passcode enabled you should also enable Autolock, best for 1 minute so that your device locks itself quickly when idle.
  6. \n\t
  7. Enable Erase all data function. Sounds a bit scary right? This actually is a great tool as it allows 10 attempts to enter the password. After a couple of wrong attempts it blocks the phone for a few minutes up to half an hour before the last one. Then it proceeds with wiping all your data from the device. We obviously recommend having iCloud backup set up to ensure all your data is stored remotely.
  8. \n\t
  9. The next security measure, is enabling a feature called Find My iPhone; which can remotely locate, lock or erase your device (under certain conditions). It’s important to note that if a thief restores your device, the Find my iPhone will not function.
  10. \n\t
  11. Finally we recommend you disable Geotagging of your photos – which associates a GPS location with every photo taken. This feature may be helpful on holidays but it could potentially alert burglars of your whereabouts at a given point in time. To disable Geotagging, Go to Location Services=> Camera (and any other apps that you don’t want to link with GPS positioning) and switch the option off.
  12. \n
\n

With the above precautions taken you can rest assured that your data is secure and protected. In a future post we will show how to wipe your device clean before selling, servicing or replacing your device.

  4. \n\t
  5. Offline viewing possible, but with more hassle (convert movie, copy to iTunes & sync)
  6. \n
\n

\n
